There once lived a man named Jonah, whom God asked to go to Nineveh. Warn the people of my judgment, was God’s specific commandment. Jonah resented being sent not wanting his foes to repent. but wishing the annihilation, of that vile and wicked nation. So, he took a boat to Tarshish, and from God, he started running. Not too far into his boat trip, a sudden storm engulfed the ship. The sailors started to panic. Their behavior became manic. They tossed cargo into the sea, and to their gods made earnest plea. All this time Jonah lay sleeping, though the sailors started weeping. Like one who drank a sleep potion, he slept through all the commotion. With heads on fire and toes cold as ice the crew decide to roll the dice, and determine by the odds, who had offended the gods, When the lot on poor Jonah fell, He did to them his story tell. The crew to God made an earnest plea, then threw Jonah into the sea. The raging sea at once grew still, As Jonah hit the waters chill. God did for him a ride prepare, he did not have to pay a fare. Instead of a boat propelled by sail, his ride was moved by fins and tail. It did not skim above the tide, he had the first submarine ride. When the port of call it did reach Jonah was ejected on a beach. He must have been a scary sight, As he emerged into the light. Then God again his order gave, to warn, and peradventure save. Jonah obeyed God’s call at last, the king believed and called a fast. Nineveh was spared from God’s judgment. The people did believe and repent. Like them, we are nearing God’s judgment, So, please heed God’s warning and repent.
