Poem
Let my love cover you as my hands blanket every negative emotion Because when it rains it pours and I usually forget my umbrella But I’ll never forget your heart, so when I say things I don’t mean in the middle of a thunderstorm please don’t take these to heart I am no superman as much as I try to be, my last name is just Clark But the first time I saw you I felt your heart without having to see Guess I am lucky like that, lucky enough to get the chance to know you, and with each day I uncovered the vast sea of pain that you were drowning in So, I tried to pull you to shore but just because you can swim does not mean the water will give in Each day we would get closer to the beach but the wall would then become taller for the both of us You wanted to know more about my past but I had locked it away so long ago that I lost the keys I began searching for answers but even when I found them I was reluctant to share them, fearing I would open up to another person who was only going to eventually go their separate way holding on to my deepest secrets This is why a long time ago I told myself “we are better by ourselves,” nobody else really cares when they say they do I am sorry for every time you asked me what is wrong and I could not tell you, sometimes I still can’t tell you And it hurts that much more knowing you were willing to tell me, but my head is telling me some things are better left unsaid While my heart wants you to know every dark corner that was pushed away It is hard to walk through your past like it is a regular Friday and you are just stopping through It is hard to be vulnerable after people only take your secrets to spill them all over the floor others step on It is hard to speak when sometimes you don’t even believe in yourself, and you are constantly listening to what others believe you are above what you want to be Can we go back in time maybe then it you would be easy This back and forth is cheesy but at the same time so real So, will you wait for me until p.s. the year doesn’t matter as much as the growth…
