Poem
Here comes the snow, oh how beautiful, white and fluffy are the flakes as they fall from the sky. Not used to seeing this twice within a month’s time frame, yet still amazed by its beauty once again. What? A snowstorm, nooo, not that much snow. But here it is, the icy, slippery, frozen roads, frozen cars and no greenery in sight. No green trees, or green grass, no green leaves, no cars to pass. Streets are shut down, bridges are shut down, snow not in one city, but snow all around. This is so weird, a frozen bliss, come on yall, Texas not used to this I don’t really know who’s to blame, for they are finger pointing and tossing out all these different names. Something about a power grid, Green New Deal, ERCOT, the governor, poor leadership… what a wake up call, I personally say, blame ’em all. No time to hear all this finger pointing, survival mode for me kicks in I know it will all be over, but for now, just don’t know when. Millions are confused and many are stressed, it's all just a big, hot mess. Freezing cold, these are the times to have a gas stove. No electricity, no heat, but I got socks on my feet. Covered in my flannel pajamas, a sweatshirt, gloves, beanie cap, blankets and God’s warm love snuggled in the comfort of my bed, I won’t complain. Not another cold night, cause Ted Cruz booked a flight Yall might not have nowhere to go But me and mine going to Mexico So much for sticking it out with the people that voted him in Anyway, after days of no electricity and heat, now the water is out Oh how they love us in Texas. Luckily for me, I filled my tub up, not knowing the water would be out, but just being prepared. I’m from New Orleans and with hurricanes, I was raised to be prepared. I used the tub water to flush the toilet. Yea... finally the electricity is on, now instead of cold baths, I can boil the water from my water bottles for a hot bath, because water, soap and a towel, is water, soap and a towel and that’s all you need for a bath. The sun has come out, but I’m not gonna let that sun melt all the snow, oh no, no, no. Since the water is still off and the water in my tub was getting low, I took an ice chest and filled it up several times with snow (because snow melts into water) and I still gotta flush my toilet because no estimated time frame on when the water will be restored. Also, I took the stuff out of my storage tote and filled it up with snow so I can have additional water for backup. Texans be strong... this too shall pass.
