Poem
Can you imagine a world where folk would have genuine respect and acceptance for one another? I believe those two characteristics would bring unity all over the land. I want to live on a planet where love and peace reigns, However, respect and acceptance can pave the way for love and peace. We are divided by race, gender, and social economic class. Out of things that divide us, not being accepted and not respected takes center stage. Before we can have love and peace, we must accept and respect one another. Can you imagine a world where one's color wasn't it an issue? If one strived to accept and respect someone on their character within, I believe it can be a bridge to love and peace. Racism, classism, and not accepting gender roles are due to ignorance. The core of them all is one not willing to respect and accept the other. The rich think they're better than the poor; if it's not voiced, It's in the things they don't do or how they look down on the poor; actions speak louder than words. Men thinking a woman's place is to have kids, cook, and clean the house is absurd. Racism is crazy because the only main difference between people is the color of their skin. Yes, we were raised differently because of how we are taught, the truth of the matter is; the human condition is the same. We all feel, and we all want to be loved and accepted. If we can just be open to acceptance and the desire to respect, unity is on the horizon. Can you imagine living in a world of love, peace, and unity? You can have it if you let acceptance and respect be a bridge. “ The human condition trumps race, gender and class; because we all want to be loved.” Quote by poet 01/21/2021 Contest: Can You Imagine Sponsor:Constance Lafrance
