Poem
If we had never met, Who would I be? With all your quirks and oddities, You taught me how to laugh. With your limitless witticisms, You made my mind sharp. By gifting me your friendship, You taught me how to care for others, But I care the most about you. You make me want to be a better person, A person who deserves your kindness, A person capable of returning it. If we had never met, My memories would be so dull. I would not have experienced the joy of late night calls as we both struggle with homework, I would not have learned the thrill of competing against a rival, And would I not have known that having an entire conversation in GIFs is ridiculously fun. If we had never met, I would have no idea what true fear is, For when I think of a world without you, It makes me want to curl up into a ball and cry. You, my friend, Have no idea how much you mean to me. Not a day goes by without thinking about you, Thinking about how lucky I am to know you. Every birthday wish is a wish to keep you in my life, Because although we will grow up and move part, I don’t want to lose you. I want to be able call you and hear your laugh, I want to be able to send you Christmas cards, and as every year passes, I want to know you’re happy. I want to be there for you when you have a bad day, to send you well-wishes when you’re feeling blue, And when you have a problem, I want to be able to help you fix it. If we had never met... I can’t even imagine what life would be like. I think the world of you, And although there are not enough words to describe how much you mean to me, I know this much to be true. I need you.
