Poem
Little girl stranger, walking down the street, Asking for a favor, from a boy she longs to meet. “Will you go down with me across the street? “Help me carry home my load, and I’ll buy you a treat?” He thought excitedly, and wanted to agree. “Sure,” said he, “I’d like to, but I’m not sure if I can, You see, I was on my way to buy you a gift, and, I hope you will like it, if you can understand, It’s a brand-new bracelet, and a Japanese fan. I hope you would think of this as kind, dear Jan.” Now, she didn’t care as much about the gifts, as for the content of his heart, For she could see, that he was a rare gift inside, a mystery. Someone to unwrap and explore, so tender and mercifully. They got to be best friends, so close with each other, That when he had to leave for two years, she was in tears. As exciting as a mystery, I won’t let you go, The reason I’m here with you right now, Is because I want you to know, No matter how long or far it may be, You will always be my shining star, and mystery. They had shared so much, and would keep as close in touch. Both hoping the years would fly by, but their reality seemed to be, That every day, was like living a long life, far away. She felt like that little girl stranger again, just longing to know him. She thought, “Will I be equal to the new man he’s becoming day by day?” Finally the day came, when all gathered to greet him home. She was so filled with relief, at finally seeing him alone. She could easily see in him a change that was plain. He had grown up and felt so much, as all such missionaries do. He now not only knew the Lord is true, he also knew Him too. He said, “I am still that little boy, but now I know who I am. My feelings of love have only increased for you my Jan. I want to make you happy forever, and take you to The House of our Lord. Will you be mine for time and all eternity?” She closed her eyes, and sighed, then looked deeply in his eyes, and softly replied, You are exciting as a mystery, I’ll never let you go. The reason we are here right now, Is because I want you to know, Yes, you are my shining mystery, the only star of my show. Now we can enjoy eternity together, and hand in hand grow. These two were one in love, both in heart, mind and spirit, And when they walked by, everyone could feel and hear it. They were always there for each other, just the way it should be, Worshiping our Savior, with their faithful actions in harmony. An undying love and adventure, in an epic journey!
