the self is an enigma
a piece of the puzzle that I try to place
often wondering how this piece might differ
from many that surround me
how does the conscience 
take its ownership of this specific self
why is self myself
and not anybody else
is it just a chance or is there a reason for this
could I have been you
and you me
than would I have loved you even more than me
is there a self in that cuckoo bird that sings
is its conscience any different from me
why do I eat when I am feeling hungry
and not feel the hunger of others like me
when my heart aches I do cry
why then cause others to cry
what binds the many pieces in the puzzle
if I am placed different 
would it change its true pattern 
would it reduce smile to tears
would it go totally unnoticed unseen
here I stand still wondering
about self
a small piece in this tapestry of design
can someone help me
