Poem
Peter and Paul since grade two were great friends, They often used to go away with girlfriends for weekends. This time flew to South Africa on their own They were excited, they had never flown. Their aim to find a poisonous snake Hide it on the plane and then take, It home, to be their pet. On their second day they got lucky found a whopper, The snake was busy eating a huge grasshopper, They quickly put it in a cloth bag, and tied it tight But the angry snake writhed, spat and started to fight, Loosened the knot a little put out his head, Got out of the sack and slithered to his home in the forest. In the interim Giving Paul a vicious bite on his willy Goodness Paul, not far enough from the sack, how silly Paul screamed with pain and couldn’t walk, He could hardly even talk! So Peter made his friend comfortable and backtracked, This was his best friend who had been attacked Found the village they had passed and the Sangoma (Doctor) Spoke English, Peter spoke to him, oh yes, yes we get plenty of cases, Most of the snake bites out here are directed at pale faces, said the Sangoma, for they stupidly have no fear, Different if they were hunting a young deer. Only one way to get the poison out, you must suck it hard, Okay said Peter and ran back to Paul Did you see the Doctor Paul asked, yes Peter said And the Sangoma told me regrettably my friend, you will die! Paul eventually survived, for the Sangoma came looking for the boys And did the dirty deed himself for Peter. A Sangoma is a traditional healer.
