May Midnight Dark Devour This Cursed Threnody May midnight dark devour this cursed threnody Sweet dreams, felled on "cusp of victory" Youthful wonderment through the heavens flew Alas! Destined was the loss of you! Cries in the dark, bevy of weeping moans. Hath frozen this heart into hardest stone! May Time into the darkest abyss cast These savage sorrows- horrors of the past And dawn, with its light and soft, soothing breath Relieve this lost soul before "hour of death"! Cries in the dark, bevy of weeping moans. Hath frozen this heart into hardest stone! May life allow mercy of this sad plea Gift desire to kindly remember me As I once stood, not now this dying heap And perhaps a few falling tears then weep! Cries in the dark, bevy of weeping moans. Hath frozen this heart into hardest stone! May this deep sorrow not destroy life's all As my heart of hearts, I answer love's call The whispering wind - this love carry swift My last words- my love of her, my last gift! Cries in the dark, bevy of weeping moans. Hath frozen this heart into hardest stone! R.J. Lindley, Feb, 26- 1973 Rhyme, dark- ( A loss, a lament- a weeping sorrow ) *********** Be Steadfast, Stand To Heart And Soul Expose From within the soul it illuminates Filling eager heart, active mind aglow Ink soaked paper it penetrates Oft soft as the beauty of falling snow. Poetry born from heart and soul of man. Look, ponder deep, splash it out if you can! Blessing, a treasure, from cradle of Art Allow your heart its sweetest of release Write, feel, express, dare - grab a pen and start Please do, join in and never ever cease. Poetry born from heart and soul of man. Look, ponder deep, splash it out if you can! Wake to a new dawn, rise to dare to write Beauty lies waiting to be revealed Cast dancing verses- set out to delight From soul's vaults compose poems and be thrilled Poetry born from heart and soul of man. Look, ponder deep, splash it out if you can! From within the soul it illuminates Filling eager heart, active mind aglow Ink soaked paper it penetrates Oft soft as the beauty of falling snow. Poetry born from heart and soul of man. Look, ponder deep, splash it out if you can! Robert J. Lindley- 12-26-2020 Rhyme, Note: 1 Wake unto a new dawn a blessing true Let out into this world, deep thoughts in you With fortitude and zeal, paper and pen Give us your very best, write, write- begin You may just feel much better if you do. Note: 2 Early this morn my son asked me-- Dad why do you write poetry? I told him , ok son-- I will write my answer as a poem. Then you read it and tell me if you agree it merits as an answer and then express your true thoughts on my answer and my time I spend doing that. He gave only very positive replies on both counts. Today started out good and then just got so much better.
