Newsflash: "Stranger times have never been As humanity battles forces as yet unseen.. Not just those things beyond our eyes But hidden troubles that wrestle for our lives.." --- Hark the Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King So what has changed? To make our lives so wonkey Christmas used to be simple.. Two people.. A donkey. It's like we have seen the right door to walk-through But been given the "wrong-key" So, let me explain, as this 2000 year old story we're about to hear Is not really so different from the one *we* have.. here.. Hark the Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King As angelic hosts PROCLAIM The visiting Saviour's arrival.. by NAME; For Mary and Joseph, that fated pair, Their world was flipped over As that baby descended from heaven.. Into their CARE. You see in those days there were forces Of evil at play And the baby, called Jesus, was 'not welcome' let's say For power struggles happen And they have from the start The prize for the victor: every human heart. And now back to our story I"ll try not to DIGRESS, Of how the king of THAT time, on hearing the news found distress At the baby's arrival, He was angry and cross and bemused: "What's this I am hearing; a new baby, a king?! But I rule the people! This cannot be a thing." Hark the Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King And as Herod stamped his feet, all red faced, and ranted A new season was beginning A seed. Heavenly planted. As Angels SANG SONGS That would outlast the LIES And heavenly LIGHTS lit The darkest of SKIES From the womb of a woman, So precious and HOLY, Came a new type of light For the people. To show ME And YOU That there's HOPE in the TURBULENT world that we LIVE IN. There's a BRIGHTness for SHADOWS Lighting all that is HIDDEN And even TODAY as you listen to this In our digital world With our digital friends, and digital family we miss.. There *is* HOPE even though those digi- dogs BARK And the King of *OUR* land Is the world in our pocket Or device in our hand Maybe it's time for a new LIGHT in the dark.. And maybe we listen to the angels who Hark.. Hark the Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King For this strangest of Christmases I PRAY for you this.. You will find PEACE in THIS story And the glorious JOY of that heavenly KISS And the people you love, ALL the ones that you MISS Will feel *cl-oser* than *evver*. Not once, twice but.. thriss (lol) May laughter and hope LIGHT the way that you TREAD May Peace be the Pillow that comforts your HEAD May CLARITY give your eyes back their TRUE sparkle. May your STORY and SONG.. Fill your VOICE Like this Hark will.. Hark the Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King May you LISTEN to only the positive NOTES May the words that you speak overshadow the DON'TS May the wonder of FREEDOM be your best friend. May the love of CREATION help you care till the end And no matter how feeble, like that baby, you feel May Angels' protection.. be part of the deal Hark the Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King May You find time to recover, restore and RE-HEAL For the story begins when we quietly KNEEL And there's this thing called Glory That no person can STEAL.. Hark the Herald Angels Sing Glory to the New Born King So finally, this.. Have fun. Be a joy. Dance like never BEFORE Let your heart's LOVE be open Like a welcoming DOOR.. Take our blessing with you. Allow TIME to reflect on what's NOBLE and TRUE. May the Christ-light of Christ-mas be REFLECTED in you.
