We edge closer and closer
to answers that are there
right in front of us
we walk blindfolded 
up Jacob’s stairs

Yet mute 
we remain

thinking, 
that dreaded word 
"thinking"
perhaps it is safer 
to avoid 

LIFE

and all 
that we cannot 
yet imagine
the mysterious 
wonder

that
IT
is

Safe Harbours 
departing -
Open Oceans,
Intrepid Blue-Green
Open Sees

Intrepid Warriors 
push the door open a little 
then through ignorance 
and terror
we refrain

to stand
like children
shaking 
behind 
the door 

afraid of what was
we hold onto 
the only way we know
what was before
without voice, we are afraid

like a child
of what is and 
what could be
the other side of nightmare
shines the call to lost battles

a brilliant epiphany
a well-earned 
VICTORY

Mute 
some remain
lacking the 
courage of 
Love

To bury the past
