Poem
She took some care making her choice A Valentine's Day card It is a silly little thing "It shouldn't be this hard" But she still feels indecision Selecting the right one To set the proper tone for them "With just a touch of fun" Short careful and personalized To give that perfect mood But not heavy-handed to say "I want to marry you" Maybe she is caught fast in truth She cannot tell just yet Diff'rent subcultures and their youth "We're not the safest bet..." She looks at the card one more time It's sexy and it's fun And it conveys love she feels but Not saying he's the "One" She sighs, heading towards the House Happy she will soon see Her Lover on this special day "And what he got for me!" She smiles in anticipation for a Valentine ---------------------------------- Few minutes later, she stares at The Lover's confused face Looking at her quizzically Not seeing his disgrace "No flower? NOT A THING!?" she rails That's when his brain turns on The weightiness of this misstep In his face starts to dawn "I didn't get you anything No money for it, Hon But I can get it later on I still will get it done." Her anger swells at stupidity! Inconsiderateness! She says, "You are so full of it! A card costs fifty cents!" She turns on her heel, walking out "I am so done with you! You don't give a sh*t about me So I just won't care too!" She hears him running through the doors Chasing after her fast But his backpedalling words Are not enough to last He catches up and stands in front She tries to walk around His idiotic apologies She doesn't want just now He'll make it up, he promises She's heard that one before "If you can't get a stupid card I cannot trust in more!" "Sweetie, please! I'm sorry! Please! I've not had a girlfriend On any holidays like these! Don't know they're important!" Scowling, she stops and looks at him Could that be the truth? Did he just make an error from Recalcitrance of youth? And, God! The thought she put into That card for Dufus, here! He talks fast, she's listening With just one open ear He's being honest and he's scared She can tell that is true But she will punch him in the nose If he says, "I love you" She gives a stern dressing down to This idiotic boy She knows she'll make him pay for it Once she designs the ploy His relief is palpable now As he hugs her and keeps Saying how he is so sorry Looking like he might weep But she has a lot of doubt then That this could ever work Is he making a young man's gaffs Or is he just a jerk? Either way this could be a very hard relationship ------------------------- Later on they are in his room Entwined close together Sentiment healing shallow wounds Makes her feel much better He spent his money for the week To make it up to her That was all very nice and sweet But she still feels unsure They keep having things like this Blowups fights and drama They need to get on the same page Before there is real trauma Not all their problems can be solved In their exquisite bed Solutions from their bodies when They need to use their heads He's actually really smart One of the brightest guys But he is irresponsible And shockingly unwise He believes all is better now While he coos affection Thinking attraction to him Ceases pain's infection But now kissing deep and slow He nuzzles to her neck Her body feels their magic flow And puts her doubts in check Maybe he will get better soon Through her inspiration With little acts of kindness and Her consideration They press into one another Her mind begins to swim While heart and body start to pulse In counterpoint to him She surrenders to the binding Force of their matched desire And when they coalesce as one She only sees that fire Perhaps this is a good Valentine's Day after all
