Poem

I try to sleep wondering....
Just what went wrong with the day?
Was it the decisions that were made?
Or how I made them ?
What was really at play...?
Did I overthink the answer
Or did I not ponder enough
Should I have gotten a second opinion...
Or left it floating above?
Did I pray about it....
Like really pray... fervently.
Or did I leave it to chance
As I would normally.
I may have been scared
Maybe doubted just a bit
Sat on the idea for too long
Never thought for once I could quit!

So I lay here just wondering...
As the answers scream at me.
It overwhelms my heart
Yet few words express how I feel
I blame myself, even though I don’t say it
Ashamed and saddened with guilt!
I could have lifted my head up
More often than I would like to admit!
Now I confess, repent
For the choices that were made
That drove me further away
As I now realize just what YOU GAVE!
What was left to me
What was left to us!
It was written to all
As we work on our faith and trust!

Now that I say these words,
I finally go to rest.
Knowing that I could have done better,
So tomorrow .... I will give it my BEST!
