Poem

They laugh as they leave me in the dark and in the damp
I'm strong enough to show them, though, I myself, can't say I am
The mirror screams profanity; my ramp into insanity
The sadness that consumes me; is living where I shouldn't be
My journal is my mind's riots
The words that I've whispered in the sounds of silence
I've fought hard and fast to be here. I deserve at least to dream here
Of a place I'd rather be, and a life I'll never see
Am I going insane, or am I paying them to cure me
Am I winning, or am I losing my mind
There are no arms there to catch me
No friends here to patch my broken soul
The adventure of the lonely leaves a massive, gaping, hole
I'm failing without my Father
Falling fast into arms with a name I've never heard and a face I've never seen
He left me to fall into the abyss unknown
To burn my house and to burn my home trying to live on my own
But now I'm lost in a dream
No sense of direction, and I'm falling toward the ones who've pulled me into their scheme
But am I lost or am I found
Can they hear my heart's sound
I make chaos for breakfast; my hat filled with mice
Running around giving self-righteous advice
I'll cook up a storm while I learn how to feel
And I'll teach me to read between the unreal
I watch them lie, and I see them pray
Are they the same as they were yesterday
They're talking without speaking; hearing without listening
They can be beautiful, but their minds are full of mimicking
And their souls are long gone
I put them to the test; they pass, but are they genius
Or is it just a con
There are none as real as He
Sometimes I get the feeling He's watching over me
He makes me hope to understand Him, while I try not to offend Him
To the adventure of the lonely I can no longer refer
