Poem
It’s time to listen to the quiet ones For the loud ones make a mess. Those who have silently held their space and their wisdom While all around are losing theirs, It’s time to hear their voice. They have sat by and watched as we listened to the squawks of a dying state of mind try to maintain the illusion. Now we will hear those who weren’t fooled. It’s time to listen to the children for their eyes are pure. They can feel the way as innocence shines through, Unburdened by the mind’s defence structures. It’s time to listen to the sensitive ones, The artists, misfits, introverts and musicians, For they are in touch with a better way. Those who did not fit the old way Shall be the cornerstones for the building of a new world, A new way of thinking and being and loving. It’s time to listen to the silence, For it sings wonders of wisdom with wings of gold. Then we can hear tomorrow when we are empty of yesterday, With fresh ears. Then we have a new today. It’s time to listen to the creatures and the trees, Wherein lies the kingdom of righteousness. We can hear the spirit breathe upon the face of the waters If we are very still and quiet. If we pay attention and listen very carefully We might just hear the faery harps and angel voices To the beat of a butterfly’s wing And the song of the miracle of every plant Growing and blossoming with love, And the Sun exploding with light and love In the mystery of communion with everything his ray touches On the Sun-kissed Earth. It’s time to listen to the mountains And the wind whisper in the woods And the Earth hum her mighty Om With the dance of the stars to the music of the spheres. It’s time to listen to our bodies. What have we been neglecting? If we are quiet we can learn and reflect the universe. It’s time to listen to the natives, The wisdom-keepers of the planet Who know how to live in harmony with her. If we pay attention we will learn and not repeat our mistakes. It’s time to listen to the mothers and grandmothers Who feel what we need. It’s time to learn from the students and serve the servants. If we don’t follow our thoughts we can hear the universe speak in everything we see. It’s time to listen…
