Poem
A parents grief When you were taken from this world it broke our hearts in two. Who knew that we could feel such pain, the pain of losing you. Our lives will never be the same, no matter how we try, Because without you with us, we too, just want to die. Every day we wake up to the sunshine on our skin, But then we soon remember and the dark cloud does begin, It wraps itself around us and it gets right in our hearts, Until it squeezes them so tight all happiness departs. Everything around us just looks like it’s the same, But in our world, without you here, it won’t ever be again. The world just keeps on turning, and the time goes ticking by, But on that day our clocks just stopped and no matter how we try, We cannot make them tick again, or stop the pain we feel. We want to close our eyes so tight, forget that this is real. How can we all keep living? Why does life just go on? It seems like an injustice to continue now you’re gone, But we know you didn’t want this, to see us all in pain, So we have to learn to live again, with the memory of your name. No matter if we’re angry, because it’s so unfair, We have to find the strength to live without you being there. We have to fight this sorrow and the emptiness we feel, To continue making memories and allow our hearts to heal. We know that’s what you wanted, for us to carry on, You are always there beside us, just in spirit now you’ve gone. Don’t think we will forget you, and some days we will still weep, But we hope your pain has lifted, and you are peaceful in your sleep. Tracie Heard 02/11/18
