Poem

a charonnet

II smiled when I thought of my aunt.
Smooth as velvet, Aunt Anne spoke silk.
She was my secret confidant;
her kind heart was cream atop milk.

We both were born in the same year
why mom died at my birth – unclear.
Two  girls grew up at Anne’s mother’s
with five guys, uncles and brothers.

When I thought of my aunt, I smiled
Aunt Anne spoke silk, smooth as velvet.
My confidant she was - hush-hush.
Cream atop milk, her heart was kind.

With five boys we hit, spit and bit;
Lone sisters ruled;  two souls were knit.
