How Wiccans acquired a bad rep is not clear. Misogynist bullies afraid of these women’s light, A young teen with an ugly heart of jealous fear, Might point a finger under cover of night. But in Salem Massachusetts, hysteria came about. When accusations were made by the ugly and stout. Possibly made by men who had a plain mean daughter. Wanting to get rid of the beauties by fire or water. History and tradition happen in the face of need. Written in blood on a crone’s telltale blotter. Ironic that to no one do harm is the Witch’s Creed Many young women drowned in their sixteenth year. Salem Witch Trials are our nation’s blight. Listen people, please, lend me your open ear. Could you have stood up? Could you have done what is right? Would you have backed down to a woman so stout? Or a man with an evil heart? A notorious lout? Would you have sat by and watched them slaughter Young women, professing that is what Bible had taught her? A mob frenzied quickly by ignorance, a fervent feed. Would you have watched them collect your own daughter? Ironic that to no one do harm is the Witch’s Creed. Their accusers would loudly scream and jeer. Did these women go as docile lambs or did they fight? Was this done out of faith or fear? Their wailing and screaming must have been a sorry sight. Did this only happen to poor girls whose fathers had no clout? Or women with beauty, targeted by those with gout? Could the devil have gotten any more smug or hotter When the mob dragged forward a pure hearted daughter? Was she captured in her garden, brought in by a steed? After much discussion by a jealous plotter? Ironic that to no one do harm is the Witch’s Creed Persecution is goal of those who dread and fear Turn of an ankle or another perceived sensual sight. Muffled screams of the crucified …..can you still hear? Were any warned? Given a slight opportunity of flight? Did she exhibit unusual gardening prowess in life’s route? Was her purity as bitter to the mean as sauerkraut? Did a father try to warn his beautiful daughter? Asking her to dress as homely as a woodland otter? Did he encourage her to eat more bread? Drink more mead? Hoping she would gain weight, be undesirable to the fodder? Ironic that to no one do harm is the Witch’s Creed. Trials are horrible; it is abundantly and righteously clear, Christian mob is made up of those who are not very bright. Could you have stood up for one of these innocents dear? You know Jesus Christ would have because this wasn’t right. Jesus would have backed them down, made them reroute. He would have exposed every misogynist bully boor and lout. He would have saved these women – maybe your own daughter. He would have shown them the error of their ways, as he ought ‘er. The ones deemed innocent died of fire or water during frenzied feed. So many young healthy women thrown away, killed, a slaughter. Ironic that to no one do harm is the Witch’s Creed.
