"Fragments and crumbs of life, all the little pieces" John Ruskin, 1853 Gentle whispers of a soft embrace Fills my mind with a sense of peace She was such a breath of inspiration Soothing, smiling, enchanting me With her enthusiasm for life and living Giving all that she might imagine With feeling that healed my worst pain Left me dancing to the wind’s music In a mystical caress of her persona She was the one I call my mother ~ Ripples of color like a kaleidoscope Surrounding me with warmth and grace Coloring the world gentle hues of amber Crimson red with brilliant lilac and mauve Passionate shades of mystery and secrets Dazzling the nights with bits of starlight Beckoning to me on the wings of butterflies That touch down against her velvety petals Miracles with beauty only God could inspire She is my charming, fragile little grandmother ~ Promising strength, wisdom and reassurance Enveloping me in arms of fierce approval Summoning the heart to believe and achieve To listen to the breathes of musical dreams Built on faith, acceptance and true creativity That only comes to those who listen to the heart Heed the sweet expressions of devotion, dedication To the visions that impress souls to trust God And imagine what it will be like in heaven Where loving, honest woman like my aunt will go ~ Women, so many, so alive with intense charms Welcoming me to listen to the thoughts they held The dreams that filled their lives with inspiration And the ideas that kept them surviving situations That were painful, worrisome and filled with anger These women were the ones who made me who I am They taught me to dream, to believe and to love Unconditionally and with all my heart and being They helped me to heal from the worst I imagined Finding beauty in moments I shall treasure forever ~ These women inspired me to write these words Prompting my heart to be grateful for those Women I’ve been blessed with in my lifetime With a feminine touch upon my heart and mind I’ve discovered the wonder to last throughout time Hypnotic and attractive, a woman’s persona! I’ll always be grateful for the women I’ve known They are pearls of great worth, jewels of gold To be appreciated and cared for with a gentle Spirit of appreciation for their amazing femininity All The Little Pieces Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Constance La France August 25, 2020
