Northerners are heading south 
Blue and Orange in an east coast bout 
Right now individuals who are sweet and peach 
Relaxing sunning on a Tampa Bay beach 
Not showing power 
To those folks on an island filled with skyscraping towers 
Still vacationing enjoying rays 
Hoping weekend forecast will say 
Weather fine for a three game set 
Everything on line for the brave Mr. Met 
As they deal with the Godly heat 
Running around diamonds sweating athletes who compete 
Only an internal memo is watching 
No one will see plays that are botching 
Due to health care departments 
Sterling message “stay in your apartments” 
As the marlins are being grilled 
Feeling the tartar sauce glazed using skill 
Whiz kids caught them in a net 
Sentencing them to a bad cold they will never forget 
A major run that as an error
Put the national pastime in peril 
Since a fish out of water 
Cooked to order 
Presented as a nice dish 
Received after asking for a wish 
Those looking for a miracle like in sixty nine 
May want to contemplate their place and time 
Spent with objects made from twine 
Pitch it here 
It goes there 
Hit it anywhere 
Make sure it crosses the plate 
Doesn’t end up in another state 
Question debated 'will the batter take the bait?' 
To be on the top spot 
Acting hot 
Where decision makers take advantage on the floor 
During a Civil War 
Figuring out a contagious viral cure 
Projecting views 
Reading words that they choose 
History does tell 
Past military leaders did fall under a nasty deadly spell 
When General Lee was sick 
As a brick 
Blaming the bad luck on a Union army trick 
Down came the confederate flag 
Documented about it in a journalism rag 
Reflect while playing these lonely games 
Where the players only hear the announced names 
Remember the time on base 
Catcher could make their case 
Throwing a sphere to win the stealing race 
Offensive plan blown up in their face 
League sports are here for a reason 
Played every season 
A peaceful art 
Where discussions start 
And listened 
Bringing closure to an angry mission 
With clap hands 
An acknowledgement from the stands 
In attendance are locals called fans 
Playing a community role 
Observing the battle unfold 
But the difference that is told 
There is no death toll
Let the cities come together 
Gloves sewn using leather 
This sports idea is better 
Over those hash tag violent anti-social letters 
That should be sent to the shredder
