Poem
This summer marked the 10th year anniversary, Of our promise that should've lasted an eternity. There are more tales to come about our prime, And I will tell you all about it another time. Right now, I'm going to skip over most of it all, To that Saturday night, when I received that call. My little brother was on the other end of the line, He told me our mother took a breath for the last time. Four kids were left motherless at a young age, Two of them orphaned by this tragic change. She was so young, only 42, and so full of life, A loving mother and a wonderful wife. I was nothing more than a plant after her death, Only needing water and praying for strength. I built walls around me to lock everything out, I was blue and blamed the world throughout. Lost in my despair, I made my life's biggest mistake. I flew across the World, and later married a snake. It took me almost a year to finally realize, That I'm going to be responsible for another life. My depression blinded me and while my mind was blank, I was deceived and trapped by one I called my friend. I needed a safe place away form everyone, To deal with the pain, loss and to learn to carry on. I didn't care about what is going to happen to me. My entire life looked hopeless and gloomy. The last thing I remembered was that haunting call. So how did I end up in this thrall?! I couldn't believe what the past year I've done. What happend to him after I decided to run? He said he didn't know what he should've done, When I needed him the most, he was gone. We both made mistakes during that tragic time, But my heart was still his and his was mine. We made plans for us to get back together. After all, we said "This time it's forever"! Wouldn't it be nice for us to have a happy ending? But out of the blue he stopped responding. Another year had passed before I got a reply, And before I was finally able to find out why. During the time when I wasn't myself, He started seeing somebody else. She found out about us talking again, Long story short, their wedding planning began. She reached out to me recently to ask about him, Because as it stands right now, their future looks grim. He told her, he only loves me but he's no longer brave, And me leaving him again would put him in his grave. She will marry him this August, no matter what, And all ties between us should forever be cut. This summer should've marked our 10th year anniversary, But our hearts will remain connected 'till eternity.
