THE FRIEND OF HENRY of MONMOUTH

Soundbites for a damaged heart
Surreal but so poetic
Study myself as is my wont
My God, I am pathetic. 

Words still ringing in my ears
"I have to let one of you go" 
Well let me go, a fond farewell
I knew it would be so

Now phrases jumbled in my head
I just won't sleep tonight
Play them over and over again
Now let me get this right

"I believe in what is meant to be" 
"I can't breathe until he has gone" 
All seemed very plausible, 
When I thought there was only one. 

"Any obstacle can be over come" 
"It's you who excites me" 
Is that what she really said? 
Yes, I mistook for honesty? 

"I want to meet you I want to know" 
"Until I am truly free" 
Pretty Lady, pretty words, 
But only truth impresses me! 

"I feel your pain because I feel it to" 
"That left you and one other" 
Well don't let me block your way
Go find your perfect lover. 

"It was short it was beautiful"

Is that right? Of course it is, 
It was really no big deal

Bravado done, forget her now
I'm old enough to know
But one phrase sticking in my brain

With truth behind pretty face

So search goes on, I know she's there
Both waiting for that day
When stars align and eyes connect
Then I'll sweep her away.
