Kick the tires, light the fires, now I’m off and on my way
To different lands on foreign sands although my mind is far away
Back to the time when I was nine or so, guitar thrust in my hands
And from the day when I first played my life has been just one big band

“Play me sweetly,” coaxed the fairy to the little child, she said,
“Stroke me gently, there’s magic inside”

Rock ‘n’ roll pilot soaring into the night
Climbing to a smooth altitude so you can sleep tight
I’m flying heavy metal, kiss the speed of sound
Til I’m cleared to descend earthbound

Few saw live, you can see that he was born to play
Twenty-five, a change of seasons on a winter’s day
Live forever, the soul and spirit onward fly
