Poem
Imagine what life would be like If we lived it in reverse. Family and friends eagerly await As we enter this world in a hearse. Imagine if we all had the looks and the courage Imagine if we were all born with the ultimate gift. We would enter this world with an array of knowledge Yet as we grew older it would no longer exist. Our relationships would already be formed And they would begin with loyalty and trust. With all the people to whom we have warmed And they would end with love and lust. We wouldn’t need the benefit of hindsight For we would be wise beyond our years. We won’t have to get it wrong in order to get it right And we would never feel trapped by any of our fears. We would all be blessed with love and support And surrounded by family and friends. Valuable lessons would already be taught There would be no need for anyone to make amends. Regrets and guilt that we all once carried Would no longer be a heavy burden to bear. To experience giving birth and getting married Would be a moment each and everyone of us would share. We would all be without pain, suffering and loss One’s state of mind would be forever in bliss. One’s inner peace would never come at a cost And equality and love would be top of our list. There would be no struggles for us to survive For we are born to depend only on ourselves. Our careers have flourished from the minute we arrived And we have already gained incredible wealth. Bad choices and decisions would never be made Risks ending in tragedy would never unfold. Our inner feelings and emotions would never fade Due to the rules and the laws that we chose not to uphold. Bad vices and addictions would never exist Our demons wouldn’t have to be chased down. Special times and events wouldn’t be missed By our morals and values we would be bound. Our dreams we had as a child Would one day become our reality. We weren’t born into this world to be wild We would stay focused and have some normality. If I had just one final wish, I would live my life in reverse If only I was given another chance to roll the dice. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve lived life to the fullest But I know now, that I’ve paid a terrible price. If Only.....
