Poem

I wake up in the middle of night, 
and lose myself in meandering  thoughts,
I can not rest until I ponder about you, 
At least for a few precious moments! 

It becomes very dark, it becomes hauntingly lonely, 
How fervently I wish I could bring back the few exhilarating days we had been together, 
And all the torturous days we were apart - 
When the summers emerged with gorgeous sun-smitten days, 
And the winters arrived with frosty, bitter nights, 
Year after year! 

Did you cease dreaming about me? 
You will protest here, and say - you never did! 
In long intoxicating summer days, in ebullient, exuberant Spring evenings, 
In heartless chilly wintry nights -  I was with you. 

You revealed to me, you were almost in a daze,  
When one terribly showery day, with endless pouring rain, 
You came, only to see me! 
and I didn’t have the faintest idea! 
If I could, I would take that day away from the history of mankind, 
Because how shockingly cruel was I, 
To be wrapped-up in my frivolous world, to be so blind! 

Every time I remember those electrifying moments when both of us were in a trance, 
I can’t believe I let it fade, 
A love, untainted and flawless, marvellous and breathtaking, 
Rarely experienced in one lifetime! 

I wake up at middle of night, 
And ponder about what could have been! 
How my life and your life could have intertwined 
In a perfect harmony!
