Poem
"Understood" My feet stand solemn grounded they're barefoot sinking in the undertow, feeling what’s real my toes grip the past while the slow words wash it irrevocably away the ego sashays and hangs that Faust in the wardrobe Locks it away turns the key I put it on my tongue swallow the meaning of that, irreverently Turning my back I walk away Walking softly, towards tomorrow yet my brain is loud and unruly, it leaves its imprint in braille for you to touch You that read You feel or fail to taste what I am swallowing you'll grasp it or not, it's no easy nor ordinary tale When I am buried as my stories become mulch like dry leaves crumple crushed under your foot You'll feel I saw you like myself, the other side of white misunderstood and contrite powdery those leaves become A drug in a glass of water swirled with a teaspoon the other side of prison a child living in a future alive reverse somersault a good mother wanting answers a child stolen, removed by an interloper wanting to be what I was the child's true chromosome the child's blueprint, the child's Light they, the readers, become bemused, something of a puzzle this story you have feet covered in honey they think heavy the sting of misfortune, what do they know gaslight the story bemusing yet misunderstood Words that are sugar in a tincture used for remedy, a kindness tea or petulant soup but like vaseline, rub it for all it's worth my words could be sold as precious as silk or just as common as your world as common as pasteurized milk the story is somewhat sterilized you and I daughter pressed like flowers between the pages The usurper full of counter production full of coveting years and lies my world, which is your world may be considered merely Droog willful, wasted, buried under soot like bones chewed slowly by Bowie's Diamond Dogs and pigeon tarts pecking at small morsels on a ground hardened by their own lost years coo the gristle tasted, becomes untasty when they see a car wreck, the piled up souls erased underfoot but I give you this consider it a gift Love was what was missed what was planted in the heart seeded, it bloomed beyond the veil eyes watched and read, consider it a secret tryst lifted by Light, you were held the mind always remained true you were kissed Whistling a message implicitly understood acknowledged silently written on leaves like pages in trees In a Winter Garden watched by only one Robin Hood take from the rich give to the poor wanton, rebellious, generous, misguided, lost Lock the door Living some kind of half way life cavalier and watched by you like in your own mirror Understood Never "dirt" poor - True (LadyLabyrinth / 2020) gvlm “What lies before me and what lies behind me are small matters compared to what lies within me.” H.D. Thoreau "In high heels Walking into walls Ever wondered If you're here at all? Try whistling this..." Crowded House
