The acrid smell of opium
Or was it marijuana? 
Could he tell the difference?
He was in a drug-induced stupor
One that did not lend itself to know the difference

Foreign words wafted amongst the party goers
Who seemed to be settling into cuddling mode
Choosing partners in slow lazy fashion
As if the apocalypse was upon them
Maybe it was, he was not sure 

His eyes had slowly shut when he felt a warm body next to him
He did not reach for it, not caring actually
A vision of his grandmother appeared in his almost dream state
She was smiling an uncomfortable smile of warning
Get out of here she said in the voice he had not heard for twelve years

He reached forward to take a puff on his bong
But it was gone; the warm body was gone too
The party goers were gone; or dead. He was not sure which.
He opened his eyes briefly. 
Weirdly, he was in his grandmother’s house. But how?

He heard her rousing from the next room.
She said something about bacon and eggs.
He tried to sit up but a severe headache held him to the bed.
A strange exotic taste entered his mouth
Whiskey. Now he remembered. 
He took another swig, trying to relive his dream
So he could call his grandmother back
He missed everything about her.
Every single thing….
