Poem
As the cases keep rising The Death toll crawls ever closer Piercing the peak of the mountain Toward the stars in the sky Ready to come crashing down As they burn out from the arrow's touch. While the stars burn out from the poison The arrogant voices ring out wishing normalcy Wishing to reopen their land to get back their freedom Wanting to get their hair cut and nails done To see a movie in a theater than on their couches. They wish to party and socialize To get back to working at their jobs Being sick and tired of being unemployed Sick of feeling like prisoners in cages. Yet the voices of truth try to reach out To try to be patient and follow the rules If you rush opening the country It's just gonna get worse As we find ourselves digging new graves. You close off your hearts to arrogrance and anger But you want the doors to open back up You want to get back to shopping at malls You want to travel and see the world You want to have the taste of freedom Like its a tasty burger you haven't had in ages! But the greatest taste you can ever bite into Is the aged wine of patience and selflessness For it tastes much better than a bitter wine That will choke your lungs with each fast swig Drink too fast will give you a coughing fit. How much are you willing to bet? How much are you willing to risk? How much are you willing to sacrifice? How much are you gonna pay? To get back your freedom and lives? Its like equivalent exchange You can't get something Without sacrificing Something of equal value. Are you willing to sacrifice your family? Are you willing to sacrifice your friends? Are you willing to sacrifice your children? Are you willing to sacrifice humanity? Are you willing to sacrifice the future? Are you willing to burn all that you known Straight to the ground until its ash? Are you willing to take the burden Of the wreckage that you leave behind? Are you willing to take the words From a liar who sees the country As just another cash cow Just waiting until it runs out of milk Leaving the cow high and dry To exchange for magic beans? How badly do you want it? How badly do you want it back? How badly do you want to give up Your very soul for your life again? Are you willing to make a deal With the devil in a ridiculous wig? As you all want to reopen the country All I can see is new graves being dug up Ready to place freshly made coffins Straight into the ground Tombstones popping up Flowers placed on the graves. The more you wish to reopen the country The more you'll see it turn into a giant cemetary And before you even know it without warning You find yourself in a coffin and facing your maker.
