Poem
The weeks continue - isolation journey, Continues though it’s not what they would choose, Instead of being locked down with a tiny range of choice, Imagination will no plans refuse. So let’s take part in different type of lockdown, Where only 2 participants take part, They travel to a world where Covid is unheard of word, Enjoy it as a tale from someone’s heart. They meet up at the airport, packed for sunshine, No limit to their final destination, Cos there’s no charge for tickets or for cases, When the journey’s in their shared imagination. The flight is uneventful as they hold hands on the trip, Soft landing on the runway they arrive, They find their guide to meet them, their names on the sign to greet them, To their apartment is an hour’s drive. They’re shown to their apartment, there’s an hour before dinner, But they are northern so they call it tea, They see the sun’s still warming all the beach as it’s adorning, The picturesque, warm Caribbean Sea. They dine, enjoy their dinner in the hotel restaurant, And then decide to walk down to the beach, Above the sun is setting, as their bearings they are getting, In this dream, nothing’s ever out of reach. They hold their hands while walking as the evening turns to night, And walk along while looking at the moon, The moonlit night of beauty, by his side a pretty cutie, A few hours since their flight this afternoon. They spend the night within each other’s arms then they wake up, The sunrise even better than they’d thought, The sun floods through the window as they’re opening their eyes, So this is how each day goes as their holiday continues, They walk, observe and travel on a tour, And then time for returning, though it’s not what they are yearning, But their flight back departs from there at four. They travel to the airport and they journey through the sun, They’ve both acquired a lovely looking tan, He asked if it did please, she gave his hand a little squeeze, They’ll’ do it soon again if they both can. The trip goes without hitches as they’re making their way home, He tells you that he’s loved the holiday, It may be in their dreams, but just as lovely as it seems, They know it would be if it went that way. Instead of taking holidays, the truth is not like that, Reality is what they have instead, She knows his inclination, though, to use imagination, Cos he loves her and that’s what’s inside his head.
