Sonnet doubles, a look at this dark world...RJL (1.) What Of Humanity, Life And Happiness Lost Dark spirit, sad heart battling against mortal mind sad breath of warfare and its slashing bloody blades aftermath, in death's red-gore, truth hard to find and those so slain, sad march in Hades' ghost parades! What of Humanity, Life and Happiness lost gleaming bright dawns millions will never again see woe, hideous price paid, at highest of dear costs dregs of hate and unseen loss to both you and me! Can living bring joy, or loving bring needed peace will death with its red-laced hand our demise delay or Time, its steady winds bring that sweetest release as blood-lust power demands war forever stays! Alas! We each must face world's ravenous deep dark! In this churning ocean, hide from Death's hungry shark! Robert J. Lindley, 4-20-2020 Sonnet, ( Doubles), ( The Oft Unseen Ravages That Evil Heaps Upon Mankind ) ******* (2.) Flames Cooking, Life's Slow Coming Feast Meat in black iron pot stewing while life's troubles are dark brewing night brings its hidden blacken paths frailty of flesh in its deep wraths. Flames cooking, life's slow coming feast wicked the meal ate by the beast night only dies when sun peeks out morbid loud moans racing death's shout! Pot now steaming, flames shine below futile dreaming, pain all poets know in the oven, baking fresh bread please free me, words too often said! Black curse meal cooked by hungry beast. No time to wretch, rancid the feast! Robert J. Lindley, 4-20-2020 Sonnet, (Doubles), ( Fires That Burn To Cook Wicked Feasts )
