Poem

An herb used to calm an upset stomach,
Can also heal bodily stress and anxiety.
Yet for a certain troubled man who drives truck,
Grown bitter from life’s unfulfilled expectancy;

Who without seeds of good taste sown does say,
“Decrease healthy interactions of relation’s conduct!”
Does he act on the creative powers of faith,
Or use unhealthy teachings of Babylon to destruct?

To slake his thirst, will an herbal tea non-satisfying,
Fill his empty, broken abyss, and forever need of more?
Or will a message from money’s open mouth purchasing,
Heal the wounded, wandering soul’s sore?

No, for only a soul inclined to hear, the still, clear revealing,
Can listen to and heed, living words of wisdom from the Lord.
But until that night and day does come for them, kindly endearing,
Love is the only substance, effective worth sharing forward.

To sit across and help carry the burdens they bear,
With true empathy, charity, in pure loving care,
Listening, hearing, feeling, and caring for their despair,
Hearts will fill, and feel again, for God will meet them there.

With seeds of faith to never give up,
We can share our simple cup of love,
With our dear friends, of our Lord’s sup,
Until their soul’s soil is prepared enough.

Now, as we drink together our chamomile herbal tea,
Taking part in faith, of what goodly friends ought to be,
We will so taste our friendship’s cake of grace with glee,
Discussing a love without beginning of days; never to cease.
