Poem

What is a virus,

But a mutation of cells?

Yes, it's true, some are shiny,

Some have bells.

Whistles too,

Like me and you,

Doing, consistently, the opposite

Of what we should do.

Blowing the horn,

Banging the gong,

One we should have, could have,

Sounded for so long and,

Though, now, it just seems wrong.

Are we strong or, at least, stronger

When our words instill fear?

A thirst for elevated destruction and decay each year

Is social media the only outlet you hear?

We, us, collectively are in charge

Not they or them.

While they play or pretend to defend,

Every day we live,

Every day we try.

For what,

To become animals,

The moment they tell us we're all going to die?

COVID19 or Coronavirus,

To be precise,

Might actually bring on our early demise.

Yet, the cause won't be the sickness, 

Or the general deterioration.....

But the simple fact

That we thrive on ignorance, 

Lack of perspective and, 
 
Placation.
