Poem
Sunday was International Women’s Day Which has a lot to say For one thing the amount in the cheque That woman receives for labor respect It is the pay They say Which is important Since they have brains from their studies at Wharton But would you carry a pitcher like Molly did? In the heat of battle when the Mother country threw a fit Work should be rewarded with something called money It could dissuade some from using that age-old slang word honey What happens when the finances are not there? Do you say I do not care? Sitting by a computer and a phone Waiting to see if he comes in using a certain tone Putting on display professional skills It is the mind that gets the good salary to pay the bills Think before you speak And accept that handshake instead of the peck on the cheek. In some circles the term lady luck is used to make a buck And looks are used as a lure In places where it can be heard fur sure Playing the game Making sure he knows your name Confusing him with the label Mrs., Ms. and Miss And knowing when to avoid that abusive kiss Those who go far And drive the nice car Are not the ones that talk like they are sitting at the bar Instead it is the intellect Who can fix his train wreck? Pulling the office weight Being an executive that gets things straight International Women’s Day is needed that is true Since women are the ones who keep situations cool Men have this inherit responsibility to defend And sometimes they are unable to know when to say when There are those Who got the one they wanted to propose That decide to be a wife And have a home life That is a job in itself Getting everyone out of the house each day in good health As I sit here a single writing these words that one may hark Without a female lighting my dark Let me wish you all who deserve the task of making the call Happy International Women’s Day And yes, without you the world would never be okay
