Poem
Here I am this afternoon thinking Here I am this afternoon Looking upon the courage of man The questions keep coming And my spirit keeps growing And I try my best not to pen this verse But the pain keeps growing deeper And my spirits is rising up I have to pen this verse Least the Gods get vexed And cause me to fret I have to pen this verse Because the threat keeps getting worse I don’t know when I will die But the gods have a special time I don’t know when I will die So I have to record everything That has caused me to cry I have survived all the threats That they have swirled at me But today’s threat has made history I pretend not to hear it but I am still thinking about it. I stood on the corner this morning And a woman wearing a brown bleached wig Dressed in red tea-shirt and carrying a little boy wearing the same color shirt had a strong message for me As she approached me she shouted, “Mi ago stab you in a you blood cloth” I stood in awe and looked at the little boy And looked again at her and wondered if she was threatening the boy But when I glanced at her expressions She was not talking to him So I had to think again before I went insane I have gotten shooting treats, machete threats And all forms of threats But I have never gotten a stabbing threat I kept thinking about it the entire day And keep wondering where it was coming from Something must have gone wrong There are many crazy people in the town And the sane ones really make me frown The crazy ones won’t hurt you But the casual ones are out to get you I kept thinking about it and tried to forget it And every time I keep hearing The same words filtering around It makes my spirit leaps I am not a coward and I don’t have cold feet What is in the heart of man? When there is no conscience left in man What is in the heart of man? When he make plans to murder the innocent ones What is in the heart of man When he conspire to take away my land? He acts like a prey and wiggle his way Across the crooked cause way He kept staring at the barrel And keep sinking in his own peril What is in the heart of man when he is out of touch? He lies calmly upon his bed And make plans that originates from the pit of hell, The birds could not understand it And trees could not absorb it What is in the heart of man when his courage Walk with bare back around the street And his hands are scrubbing his knees He listens to his own music and And dances to his own sound And try to make is way to the other round But something’s bigger than him Is waiting to subdued him When everything is full to the brim He will dance to his own tune And walk around the street in the afternoon What is in the heart of man? When he deprived the weak of their heart beat He preys upon the innocent ones And make concession with the hungry one What is in the heart of man? He acts as a con man to deceive the weak And break the courage of harmless sheep What is in the heart of man? I just cannot understand.
