MAGNETIC NORTH

A house misses you.
You don’t live there now.
It’s delighted to see you.
It pulls you to it’s curb.

A house misses you.
You happen by.
That dark window,
knows your outside.

That house misses you!
There are the violets.
Once grown in a window.
They are now, long gone.

You glance at the path.
Your sister is playing.
Grandmother waters,
her petunias in pink.

You can’t go inside now.
You can see through walls.
There’s the library table,
and the rollaway bed.

You hear the snap echo!
It’s the summer green beans. 
We’re on the back porch,
prepping for supper time .

Big begonias bloom.
Apricot pies cool, 
on a kitchen towel.
The house misses you!

You’ve been recognized!
Door, window, and roof,
calling loudly your name.
You stop with a screech.

Oak trees, and neighbors.
They're all strangers now!
But the house wants all, 
your secrets, and stories.

A house holds memories!
It’s eyes are the windows.
It sees you escaping,
you know that it sees. 

The house misses you.
You will not drive by!
It begs for a passing. 
You cannot go back.

A new little house,
with windows for eyes.
New stories and people,
that make up your ties.

A house misses you.
Go fast when it calls!
It will pull at your foot,
and twist at your heart.
