A GLIMPSE OF HERITAGE To Visit the past, is to understand your future. The storm was moving away, the noise no longer pounding, Sky turned blue from dark, thunder abating, hail disappearing, I took refuge under a bridge during this fierce storm’s ranting, A bright flash, circular light and colorful vortex was beckoning! I walked towards it, it’s pinkish, purplish aura was mesmerizing I stretched out my hand, the vortex continued enticing, seducing Me to go nearer, I did, I was suddenly lifted and started spinning, As if in a tumble dryer, my head rolled, my body shaking, my senses reeling! Finally thrown out onto lush, green grass and blues skies, a sight so endearing, I heard some familiar words, the clothes worn were white, long and flowing, Garlands in the maidens hair, and plaited small olive branches covering The crown of the men, I steadied myself, the whole scene was stunning. Someone spoke to me in Greek, I answered her without thinking, Two more young girls joined us, skipping, dancing, joyous, abounding, Dressed in my shorts and T-shirt, and a sun hat on, they found this amusing, Then men in tunics arrived Zeus and Poseidon, Apollo and Ares, all introducing Each other to me, Dionysus, Hermes, the women with their breath-taking Beauty were, Athena, Pandora, Artemis, Aphrodite and Diane, goddess of hunting I had gone back through a portal of time, and was in ancient Greece, communicating, With the Greek gods and goddesses, I listened in awe to their story telling Myths about stories of mythology and the gods, fables short stories with sobering Morals and legends which could be about any event, true or false, they were speaking In Greek – I could stay here for the rest of my life, I had arrived in the middle of their dining, And so they invited me to stay and eat, but where was I from, what strange visiting Alien was I? The Greek spoken was ancient and mine modern, but we were managing, It was getting late, so Prometheus and his famous story of the gift of fire, began leading Me, to the piece of ground I had fallen on, Eros charmed me as back we were walking, And Hercules winked at me with a handsome grin, that I will forever be carrying, The bright light was awaiting my return, the vortex, spinning, I was still hugging The exotic Aphrodite, when I succumbed to the vortex, and began journeying, Back to my time and era, would anyone remotely believe what I had been seeing, I would never tell anyone how I got there and back, it was my secret, I continued visiting, My Greek Gods and Goddesses with whom I felt a kindred spirit totally my soul enveloping! This was my Greek heritage I had stumbled across, what an adventure, exciting and thrilling!
