What is winter in Jamaica like? When you were shivering the entire night What is winter in Jamaica like? When you have no heating all night Couples bundle up underneath the covers Trying to keep each other warm But the covering was so thin It kept them up until dawn A world wind has just passed through Sending chills through and through This is the weather that I have been waiting for Since last year December But it came a little too late as I am getting ready to go through the gate At first I thought I was in London Then it feels a little like Northern Virginia The temperature has suddenly dropped Causing many people to shiver They suddenly start to complain That they are not in America or England again So why do we have to bear such cold? A heartless man began to shout. But for me it was a serious warning For mankind to change their wicked ways Summer sun in winter on the run Summer in winter is creating much fun I have been punished all summer in this terrible heat That was more than ninety degrees When everyone was relaxed, sweat was oozing from my back And the baking heat with its nose pointing up was sipping cool aid from my honorable cup The morning is capitalizing on its feet And it is making my spirit leap The choir is standing in its radiant gown while the happy hour watches the people dancing around in the street White rum, and dragon stout, And the good old English Whisky Send showers of hope where there was doubt Some things has just started to sink in And it is making the people very sorry But this morning it was very healing to To feel the coolness all over my skin For the first time I was not perspiring But I could still feel the heat trapped Beneath and stirring below the cold under my feet This is the perfect weather for me To unearth some timeless mystery Some people cannot function in the cold But heaven knows it makes me bold I went out door in the early morning And my neighbor was up watching to see who was going through the gate When they glimpse my baseball cap They went inside and start to chat Daylight was just waking up And the taxi and mini bus started to fuss The early morning walkers were on the go While others were getting ready to start another show The street was almost perfectly clean And my spirit was almost pleased The lesson is slowly being learned The weather is jumping around on its feet And as the morning rise more people gather in the street Everyone dressed in thick clothing as if it was snowing The small cold wave that passed through Has taken everyone off guard And left some trapped in their backyard I kept wondering if it was climate change or it was a natural event that started too late but as soon as the sun started rising The chill suddenly disappeared Summer sun in winter makes me grin.
