(1.) Into Days And Nights Of Writing Accolades To Poetic Titans True Then Hope gave sweetest promise. Of Love's new open hand, There under moonlit oaks, truth's goddess smiled and sighed. But Life overruled such benevolent a reward. No mercy Shall be granted, a man blinded by darkness and hate. Only allowed the backhand of a wicked and dastardly Fate. There within that reality a message stood. Take care now For deep and fuller is that bad column on Life's judgement slate. Through that maze of lust and perfumes of women's charms, Youthful wanderings began as if a rolling of balled thunder. Yet in truth, such fantasies mixed with existence and truth merge Into days and nights of writing accolades to poetic Titans true. Where pen, ink and paper sought out Breath and Life anew. There within that reality a message stood. Take care now For Hope when not embraced, tends instead to allow venom to spew. Wherein soul becomes indifferent and seeks out its epic hurts, Oft crossing forbidden barriers and dancing into deepest darkness Alas! Woe to he that such a great folly steps into its iron chains To moan and cry about shadows that abundantly come forth to play. Writhing in beds of despairing heartaches and fiery lava melted clay There within that reality a message stood. Take care now As death's hand may be touching one, before another soft born day! Robert J. Lindley, 1- 12-2019 Prose and rhyme, ( On Hope, Love, Life and Fate's Oft Heavy Blows ) (2.) Annabel, Do You Gaze, From Time's Ancient Skies Annabel, you inspired words that gifted us all Such as never before seen, on this earthen ball. With pain and insight, Master Poe over you wept Deepest in his broken heart, your love was there kept. Annabel, you inspired words that gifted us all With that blessing many have answered its great call. As Master Poe, we came to see and understand Life is not all rosy, sweet music from a band. Annabel, your image now burns in poet's brains Master Poe's love for you, tempers this world's dark stains. Yes, our ink now wets new pages, hopes for tomorrows As we read saddest words of Master Poe's sorrows. Annabel, as a goddess you were in disguise. Are you now looking at us, from Time's ancient skies? Robert J. Lindley, 5-19-2018 Sonnet, (Twelves), (Tribute to Poe's Annabel Lee) (3.) Yet Both Stood Reaching, Tho' Now Forgotten Rode one among life's wavering bars, Another amidst the glittering stars, Each on a destined path, a road less known Each with shattered heart turned to harden stone. Dawn's awakening, each solemn oath sworn, One mourning life, other having been born, Neither with faith of a future brighter One lost lover, other blinded fighter. From mountain valleys to high seas waving, One a dreamer, other true love craving, Life to each, its sweet blessings not giving One seeking, other's life not worth living. Neither, their treasure had ever gotten Yet both stood reaching, tho' now forgotten. Robert J. Lindley, 12-27-2018 Sonnet, ( Blindly Reaching, As Night Dreams Slip Away )
