Poem
It was snowing, as I went store to store shopping; for Christmas gifts to give family, I had many bags and I was joyful; as I stood waiting for the street light to change. I looked sexy, I felt sexy, I was sexy for sure, with my high heel boots and long blond hair; and cute winter hat. I noticed a woman, watching me as she sat on the cold street; oh, she made me feel so uncomfortable, I suppose she wanted some money; so, I searched through my purse for some change. I reached out to give it to her and she smiled, with a toothless happy grin she spoke to me; in a gravely voice. Miss, she said, you look like an angel standing there in the snow; I was once beautiful like you, oh don't laugh, now look at me- a beggar on the street; I have no home to call mine, no place to rest my head. No place that is Christmas but I saw an angel tonight, I was quite overwhelmed by her words; what could I reply. (thank you) I walked away, but, I felt a melancholy taking over me; I had been so wrapped up in my own luck, that I failed to see the people with nothing; being an angel is not what I considered myself at all. Yet, I suppose to a person with nothing it is possible, so, I made a promise to myself that day; to help the homeless. _______________________________ December 17, 2019 Poetry/Verse/Dark Christmas Copyright Protected 19-1209-634-02 All Rights Reserved.
