Poem
Deep within every heart there lies a special place, where broken hearts go, when another takes their place When the heart is broken in two there is no way to hide the pain, the heart goes to a place, where every day there is rain In this place, no love is found inside, just memories of love that once was, but has died The moment your heart is broken an angel takes it away, to bury it, so pain can never again find its way As you step through the gates all you will see, are stones etched with words of love that used to be The only sound you will hear is the weeping for the love that has died, the love is not forgotten, just consumed by someone’s foolish pride As you walk along the path the rain falls harder, and the words become deep, this place is filled with so many hearts, that will forever sleep There are no roses laid upon any of the graves to show that someone cares, the hearts lie alone, with just memories in despair Rarely does anyone visit this desolate place, there is no happiness to be found here, it vanished long ago without a trace I never knew this place existed until my heart was broken by you, my soul lives on though, it lies within you Will my heart be laid to rest here for all eternity? Buried alongside these painful memories Just as the other hearts that lie here, my heart will weep too, over the one, I once loved, tearing it in two When they carve my stone, all I wish for it to say “Here lies a heart that once held a love so true, but was painfully taken away” If ever before your time is up, you wish to visit my heart again, walk through the gates and follow the path to the end You will hear my heart weeping over you, praying that you aren’t here to once again, tear it in two If you wish you may lay a single rose down, to show you do care, then the weeping will stop, I’ll know you’re sincere My heart will lie alone until the day your heart is broken in two, when the angels take it away, I’ll no longer lie alone, I’ll rest beside of you Then our hearts will be together, and you can never leave me, our hearts can weep as one, where our love will always be On your stone written in love by me, it shall say “Here lies the one who broke my heart, but finally found his way” Deep in the night while the rain is falling down, forever you will see, two shadows walking hand in hand on the ground It is so sad that we couldn’t be together in life, but forever in this place, our hearts will rest, side by side Our souls will live on, carrying our memories through time, reminding others that love is true, not a crime This is loves final resting place, where our love shall lie for all eternity, in the cemetery of broken hearts, this is where our love will always be. This poem is from my book titled Windows of The Heart available for purchase on Amazon and Kindle. My pen name is Amanda Carroll Kinzer
