(1.) (*I wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then.*) Bob Seger, song lyric, from, " Against The Wind"... I Wish I Didn't Know Now, What I Didn't Know Then I recall rambunctious racing boy of a mere ten So swiftly did he run, absent greed and lust of men I wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then.* As just a tired old man looking back, near the final end! Sweetest glorious days, pleasures once thought heaven sent Dawns that woke a rebellious soul, surely hellbent Nights of passion's hungry sordid deeds, I do repent Praying now, my solemn prayers, make more than just a dent! Life and Love, both have been such precious blessings to me Tho' world's darkness demands fealty, of which I disagree I remember her, that glowing goddess that set me free Passion's whispers, each one love sent, that let me see! In this perilous world, Darkness, Time and Fate oft collude! To destroy innocence, which mortal life at birth has imbued! Robert J. Lindley, 12-04-2019 Sonnet, ( dedicated to Glen Frey of Eagles's fame and his verse given to Bob Seger )as the best verse in the song -Against The Wind, and that it was given to him by his good friend, Glen Frey. (*I wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then.*) Bob Seger proclaimed that verse, the best verse of the entire song, "Against The Wind" ! Oh how oft and so dearly now do I wish that myself!!! (2.) Quote: “Time flames like a paraffin stove / and what burns are the minutes I live.” ? Irving Layton, The Selected Poems... Easing Loss's Agony And Time's Fleet Footed Blows O' that my muse wouldst my poetic heart renew and this mortal coil thus never again deny deeper well of golden verses from which I once drew let me fly across a greater poetic sky! Alas! Life has given me more but I feel less. Tho' truest need for more Time, I beg to be bless. My poet heroes no longer in my dreams speak yet to each and everyone, I have wavered not tis again their comforting embrace I now seek more than passel of fading treasures I have got! Alas! Life has given me more but I feel less. Tho' truest need for more time, I beg to be bless. Writing, midnight clock striking its desperate chime brings me to reality, that this old soul needs sleep to say my prayers, ask again for more sweet Time beg again, Lord if I die, pray this soul to keep! Alas! Life has given me more but I feel less. Tho' truest need for more time, I beg to be bless. Dawn's command, its refreshing rays through window drift yet first thought is will my hiding muse this day show to soothe my pains, dance about to this heart uplift easing Loss's agony and Time's fleet footed blows! Alas! Life has given me more but I feel less. Tho' my truest need for more time, I beg be bless. Robert J. Lindley, 12-04-2019 Rhyme, ( If Only Those Flying Hands Could Pause A Decade ) Midnight's stroke-- Starts another day or perhaps a gaze into another realm??
