Poem
Choose, Said the fairy, As she glared at me With disdainful eyes! Choose to be saved And to live here forever, In a Christmas globe Or to keep on agonising In a world which gives no clues As to when it can open its arms To the ever hungry Death! I hesitated for a few seconds Then chose to follow her word As, In the very end, I had nothing to gain from what I shall leave behind, in this Earthly realm! I jumped into the Christmas globe Enjoyed the warmth of the season, The hot chocolates, the pampering of the elves As they drowned me in gifts, More heavenly than those being offered on Earth! Then, they asked me to sit and to gaze at the world I had chosen to leave behind; Ans I stared open mouthed, At the Ego ruling death centered beings, Merely because they could realise not Of their frugality as they were blinded By the illusions which life lay at their feet! I saw Selfishness taking over the humanity of people, Everything was acted out according to it, Even love was felt and chosen according to its rules; Whether it referred to monetary gains or to comfort! I saw on wealthy faces, the option to pretend to be uncaring Towards those who could not enjoy the same privileges As they did! I saw on those faces, the imprint of stony hearts And the sculpture of Evil, As their lives glowed, Solely when they danced upon the tunes Of actions which resorted to being Morally unacceptable! I saw Vices running in the blood of each and everyone From having to cheat on their loves ones To the need of having to be intoxicated by narcotics, Why, It would seem that the human race Had a new essence attached to it And purity was certainly not one of its priority! I saw denial to the fact that life Is of no meaning I saw, rather, the importance given To racing towards gold mines, Even if such implied having to embrace One's enemies Or, even, Having to corrupt one's goodness! What I saw scared me Is this the world that I had been living in, Asked I to the angry fairy? Yes, said she, looking as majestic as would be A glowing being, having silver hair up to her back And sparkling wings made of glitter! Do you wish to go back? No, said I with relief, I am grateful to you for having saved me I will stay here with you I shall never ever go back there! So be it, said the fairy Enjoy the grace given to you As given it is, Solely to a few!
