If you could but in one moment
trust something
let go
release yourself from controlling
the unknowable

Immediate present be
to an indeterminable future
the short explanation
to a lifetimes conclusion
of uncertainty

But this moment is predicted
preempted
always supplanted
as it clings to the illusion of safety

Unknowable in your fear
and you have no faith

If you could but for one moment
trust in something else 
admit just one thing to yourself 
you have no idea of fate
you really can’t control a single thing
and your best course of action
is to give up trying

You might touch upon something
out there waiting for you patiently
hoping for you to see
there is no predictability

And even though by the years
to reach your destination
all by the drag and scrabble and claw
and every puzzle piece
you chose to ignore
suddenly fits in perfectly
and in silence remind yourself of oh silly me

But this is the moment you do not see

Unknowable in fear
and you have no faith

And every belligerent emotion
slams a possible guess
as you eek yourself out over daily option
you're in control
but you’re out of control
and you have no faith  

If you could but for one moment
trust in something else
admit to something beyond yourself 
you have no idea of fate
you really can’t control a single thing
and your best course of action
is to give up trying

You might find some happiness
in relinquishing 
you might find some connection
beyond your perceptiveness
you might suddenly discover
what it means
to have a little bit of faith  

You might touch upon something out there
as it patiently awaits

But this moment was expected
predictably preempted
always life supplanted
as it clings to the fantasy 
of everything is stable
you're fully in control
yes you're in control
yes 

and you yourself remain
unknowable
