GOD’S BOOKS Many books by men are written, many words we often quote, But the most important books are the books that my God wrote. First and foremost is the Bible that tells how all began, The things that God created--the earth, the sky, and man. His word will last forever and will never pass away; It tells of His salvation through Jesus Christ the way. But God in His great mercy writes many more things there In His great home in heaven among the mansions fair. He writes down all our sorrows and bottles up our tears; Our every trial and heartache is saved in memory here. He writes it down and stores it all safely tucked to stay Until that great day coming when He wipes our tears away. Another thing He writes down is what we do and say, Our daily conversations to Him each make your way. Our works we do for Jesus are written carefully; He never misses any; each thing He clearly sees. And then there is the record He has for things to come; Not one thing will surprise Him, His will will then be done. The climax of the ages when the last of evil reigns Is settled in His record, no power that can change. And then there is the record, the most important book That on the day of judgment He’ll open up to look, And every name not found there will be forever more Cast out to hell’s dark dungeons and all its pain so sore. Though there are books abundant in all the world tonight, The one that’s most important is the Lamb’s Book of Life. When by faith a lost sinner repents in faith and prayer, The angel takes his pen and forever puts it there. The pen, I think, is dipped in the precious blood of Christ, And joy rings out when one more is in this Book of Life. Now your name may be famous or on a few church rolls, But if you don’t know Jesus, you’re still a poor, lost soul. Or you may be so honored to have your name inscribed Upon historic pages some day after you’ve died. You may become an actor, your name on a marquis, Or maybe on a ballot that many voters see, Or you may not be famous and noted for your deeds, But there’s one book for certain that your name surely needs. If you would find salvation, a home in heaven above, And rest and peace forever, surrounded by His love, Trust Jesus as your Saviour, then in this book you’ll be Wrote down and kept forever where some day it He’ll see. He’ll welcome you to heaven where all His books you’ll see And you will be surrounded with joy eternally.
