Poem
I heard that you are coming, and I am ready for the meeting I heard that you are coming, and here I am anxiously waiting The last time I heard that you were coming My heart leaps and my spirit began to grow The last time they say that you were coming My spirit danced, and my soul begin to make merry The chirping birds fly restfully from tree to tree, Singing a lively tune that elevate my humble mood, The crickets were in sync too, they sang, But they were singing to a louder tune All the hens were running around, And the roosters were playing merry-go-round The dogs and cat stood gracefully in order When the news of your coming circulate around my dwelling Minivan and taxi circle the street Trucks, cars and Jolly bus lined both sides of the street I could hardly believe that it was finally happening One sound competing with the other sound, religious music Secular music and love music playing across each other. Everyone dressed up in their Sunday best getting ready for the The jubilee and dance fest, the village men curzed around in bright colored vest, accompanied with light cotton and purple satin shirt Tucked away neatly in their baggy trousers and tight jeans Thousands of anxious eyes, stared in anticipation for the grand entrance and the announcement of the celebration My body begins to get warm, and something mystical began to ignite my passion. I waited, they waited, and everybody waited for your arrival. I waited all afternoon in the temple of doom but you did not show up at noon. We prepared for a glorious feast And ordered the best wine and all the delicacy the town could find. Men wearing tailor made suits parading up and down the lawn in their manly pride talking about their life. Women walking around in strapless bra and short miniskirts vibrating on their thigh in anticipation of your arrival. I could hardly believe what I was seeing; I witness glory in the sun and heavens dancing around in the sky. Restless children frolicking on the grass-less lawn, And young babies pulling at their mother’s breast Chatter and laughter seep through the air, Telling me that I have nothing to fear The earth is trembling with deceitfulness And the mountain is shaking with pompousness, The people are still celebrating but my heart is rambling My spirit is raving, and the tower is finally breaking I stood upon mount of olive holding the torch of will The fleeting clouds hang peacefully over my head whispering the same message that you are coming and the door is wide open The clouds smile merrily at me pointing to my destiny I watched the heavens standing by and I listen to your innate cry It is not a cry of pain, it is not a cry of shame, it is that part of me That is a part of you and the other part of you that I cannot see I am waiting, they are waiting, everyone is waiting and I know that you are coming.
