II. Allan seemed mad,”How can you even ask?!” Sol said,”All right, let’s then get to the task. Find any townspeople still somewhat hale, then go get me ladders, some boards, and some nails. “And do it quickly, there’s work to do yet, we must finish it before the sun sets.” At that Allan and Marie ran out fast, relieved that they could do something at last. They spent the afternoon nailing in boards, covering up every window and door, except for the front one, that Sol left clear, then walked to his horse as sunset drew near. The people watched as he removed garlic, smeared it upon his skin and clothes right quick, then took a big spring, chewed it in his mouth, swallowed the thing whole, did not spit it out. Then he took long stakes with metal back ends, looked like bullet shells had been fixed to them, took six of them and strapped them to his thigh, then turned to the people who stood by his side: “I will need a lantern, brimming with oil, without it this whole thing could be foiled. one was retrieved and he lit it up bright, just as dusk came, and drowned the sun’s light. He said,”If I do not come out of there, head for the hills, and don’t ever dare to come back here, because if I should fail the revenge they take will make your soul quail.” With that he grabbed his old Winchester gun, put it in one hand, lamp in the other one, went right up the steps, kicked the door open, then strode right into that damned devil’s den. The waking vampires looked on in shock, Sol closed the door, and then slid in the lock, cried,”The doors and windows have been nailed shut, it seems you undead are fast out of luck.” The pale demons froze, still stunned by his gall, Sol said,”Listen up! Or I’ll kill you all! If I had my way this whole place would burn, but some still feel loved for you slatterns. “And lucky for you, I can save you lives, you can go back, behusbands and wives. You can return to mortality, or we can all die here, what will it be?” A laugh then arose, and boy did it grow, so Sol lifted the lamp, ready to throw, a young vampire leapt in to kill him, but Sol just stood there with a cocky grin. The vampire screamed as it got in close, the garlic smell dropped him in painful throws, all others shrank back, stunned by the sight, said Sol,”You all understand me now, right? “Bring me your sire, or we all meet flame, and be quick about it, I don't play games.” It was then he heard healed-shoes on the stairs, and saw four young women standing there...
