Poem
It was with a smile creeping onto my lips, I said “hello” Never ashamed of poor manners As your beautiful laugh encouraged me To hear you speak just as I And in turn made me laugh so purely These are forever, my own memories For when I close my eyes, I see my secret garden Where I’m never unwelcome in humor or in heart Oh, how these thoughts bring tears to my eyes I will never forget such a light a midst my emptiness For without, never would I have been so joyous To set aside unwelcome fears To welcome these feelings into my heart This feeling forever new to me, thanks to pure chance I’ve torn apart my own memories in deep hope To one day understand what it means to have a friend For upon an empty throne, sat a book About a weary man who seeks nothing but a chance A man who owned no more than the weight of his mask For once upon a time, this throne belonged to him And upon this throne, he will never return So empty it must have been With no one left to understand him For how could man witness such a world and never himself, Partake in its journey Such a mystery is the meaning of life To see the shimmer of the stars Yet question why, never once, did we reach for them The answer to this will forever remain unknown to mankind Perhaps it was for this answer he left his throne Forever sleepless nights driving him onward into the sky To dream of flying high above the clouds Soaring through mist of sacred waterfalls Diving from the Heavens to the world we call our own Such are the dreams of man who desires freedom To anchor responsibility to the nearest bay And wander through the forest like a child Amazed with such simple findings To see fireflies light the sky for the first time And wish nothing more than to share this feeling with someone This feeling was once a distant dream For when he awoke He found his heart was already headed out the door He chased after it, in search for these new feelings So for the first time, he met someone new He let this smile creep onto his lips and said “hello”
