Interview with The Wise Rookie What did you think of the pitcher’s stuff tonight? Darn good. Yeah, his fast ball was ugly tonight. Pure evil. I did manage to put some wood on a change he threw In the fifth, went for a single up the middle; but his slider tonight was bloody wicked, Especially when thrown down and in, late in the count. How do you feel about the walk-off home-run you hit tonight? Like nothing I have ever felt before! Just lucky I guess. I know what Mr. Rickey said about luck being the residue of design, and all, But tonight I seen that hanging forkball Come zooming in like a rocket bent for hell! And luckily, I was able to see the spin of that thing, and go yard this time; I believe the pitch was a strike, Right in there, man! Like a peach in springtime! It felt good hitting that thing tonight! What do you think of all the errors you guys committed in tonight’s game? The guys and I play a lot of games ever’ season, and errors is bound to happen. And it seems the errors come in bunches, and at the worst a’ times. But you gotta buck up and play harder, especially after you blow one with the game on the line. But the harder you play the better the results. Them guys is gonna make miscues. It’s in their blood. But still, no excuses. Gotta play harder! Do you have any tips for younger players coming up? Yeah, hire a CPA. And a lawyer, plus a personal assistant, And never take the first acting gig that comes your way. Keep it zipped at all times, both your mouth and your real zipper. Keep it private, both your bank account and your “thang” hiding in the shadows; Stay in shape if ya wanna stay rich, but don’t count on it. Average time span for a ball player? 11 years, give or take, So invest your money once it all starts rolling in. Don’t let it all go to your head. Keep on learning all your life! Stay sober-headed and be humble. These are my tips.
