Poem
There once was a young lass Who wanted some quick cash, And one Sunday she did pray at mass With God’s answer was ‘this surely will pass’. Not knowing what to say She left the church without a way To get some pay Then there appeared Something at first, she feared An evil goat who was the town joke. Do you know how to count? He asked trying to figure her out. Why yes, she stated as he waited I may have a job for you Down at my private school Teach my kind To broaden their mind If of course you have the time Wait I must state How much money will I get? If I go along without a fret. A couple of pences a day I would say And after a year you should have plenty of cheer. But you are the evil goat And I never said you were a joke. I must ask what is your kind? If you do not mind I am not an evil goat That is something that one misspoke I am a beautiful creature see look at what I feature And my kingdom awaits For those who think I am great. With no money Her decision was not funny Off she went Knowing this will pay the rent When she arrived at the private school It really did look cool But after a week these things started to speak On the wall, in the student’s mall These things were making the call One two three Do you know me? Was the chant that was their rant. Trying not to be mean She visited the Dean What he said made her feel like a sinner And not a winner How did she fall into this trap? Of evil sap Since it was the weekend, she went home To her parent’s house where she was known And when she explained about the chitter chatter Her Father asked her “What was the matter?” “There were rants and chants I nearly wet my pants” “Oh!!!” Her Mother did cry “You must have had a scare with that evil dare” “I am going back!” “And ready I will be for an attack” As her parents smile Knowing their child was ready to be wild When Monday came She was ready to play the game. As the goat walked the hall And the Dean enjoyed the mall She sat in a room getting ready for the boom Which would spell evil’s doom. When where there be this special effect That she must reject. First there was a crackle and through her mind she was able to tackle Then there was a crinkle and she was able to hold having to tinkle. Frustrated the evil sound Started to get the message things were going down. One more try the evil did hiss And once again it was an awful miss. When all was set and done The Goat and Dean admitted she had won They did ask ‘how she completed the task?’ She replied dear There is nothing here to fear Except for the sound I hear In the end she removed the listening plug And walked right into a student’s hug What is the lesson here? If you want to win play it by ear.
