ONE HUNDRED FLIGHTS

Our mission was so special:  to honor those who served,
And we thought it important to give what they deserved.
It could be a nice medal, but every soldier wears
Some form of decoration for the service he did there.
Perhaps a fancy plaque then, with a paper there inside
Would tell each special veteran how much we swell with pride.
Or how about a trophy!  That certainly could be
The tribute that we owed them who served both you and me.
Oh, we thought of these honors, but they just would not do,
Then someone wise suggested an honor great and true:
“Let’s fly them to our capital, and let each veteran see
Memorials so special, and they can go for free.
We’ll escort them with others, and many they’ll meet there
From World War II, Korea, and Vietnam can share
The stories of their service, the battles that they fought,
The times of fear or danger when a safe place they sought.”
The years have passed now quickly, and each flight there has been
A flight so full of memories for all the servicemen.
But this one’s very special!  Marking the hundredth time
We’ve had the special pleasure of making this so fine.
We reach out now to thank those who us to money gave
That we might give THIS honor to soldiers proud and brave.
We’re proud of every soldier who served us with their might
And proud of every donor for every honor flight!
